The City of Stillwater has appointed Tom Ballis as the new Fire Chief, marking a significant transition in the leadership of the Stillwater Fire Department. With over 30 years in fire service, including 24 years dedicated to Stillwater, Chief Ballis brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the community.
In his previous role as Deputy Fire Chief, Ballis was instrumental in modernizing department operations. He spearheaded the implementation of advanced records management systems, enhanced emergency response planning, and developed comprehensive training programs for both firefighters and officers. These initiatives have positioned the department to respond more effectively to the evolving needs of the community.
Expressing his commitment to the city’s heritage and future, Chief Ballis stated, “I’m excited to help foster the future of the Stillwater Fire Department while maintaining the rich traditions of the city.”
City Administrator Joe Kohlmann echoed this sentiment, highlighting Ballis’s leadership qualities: “Chief Ballis brings a strong track record of leadership, experience, and dedication to the Stillwater Fire Department. We are confident in his ability to lead the department forward while continuing to provide exceptional service to our community.”
The city also extends its gratitude to former Fire Chief Stuart Glaser, who retired after 40 years of dedicated service. His leadership has left a lasting impact on both the department and the community.
As Chief Ballis assumes his new role, the Stillwater Fire Department looks forward to a future that honors its storied past while embracing innovation to serve the community more effectively.
