Since his appointment in February 2026, Jason Zimmerman has been at the helm of Stillwater’s Community Development Department, guiding the city through a period of meaningful growth and strategic planning.
Zimmerman, who grew up on the west side of the Twin Cities, brings a deep understanding of the region to his role. He has been actively collaborating with city officials and residents to develop a Comprehensive Plan that will shape Stillwater’s community and development efforts for the next two decades.
“I work with a very enthusiastic and team-oriented group of people in City Hall,” Zimmerman said. “It’s been easy to step in and build on their positive thinking for the future of Stillwater.”
Under his leadership, the city is focusing on sustainable development, preserving the historic charm of Stillwater while accommodating growth. This includes initiatives to enhance public spaces, support local businesses, and improve infrastructure.
Residents are encouraged to participate in upcoming community meetings to provide input on the Comprehensive Plan. These sessions offer a platform for citizens to voice their ideas and concerns, ensuring that the plan reflects the community’s vision for the future.
