Stillwater has been actively pursuing initiatives to enhance community development and address local concerns. A notable development is the appointment of Jason Zimmerman as the new Community Development Director. Zimmerman, who grew up on the west side of the Twin Cities, is enthusiastic about contributing to Stillwater’s growth. He is currently working on the Comprehensive Plan, which will guide the city’s development efforts for the next two decades. This plan aims to build upon previous projects and set a clear direction for the future.
In addition to leadership changes, the city is addressing environmental concerns. Construction is underway for a new PFAS treatment facility at Well #10. This project, which began in mid-September, has made significant progress, including the installation of new sanitary sewer manholes and concrete footings for the treatment building. Despite winter conditions, work continues, with the project expected to be substantially complete by May 1, 2026. This facility is part of the city’s commitment to providing safe, high-quality drinking water to residents and businesses.
These initiatives reflect Stillwater’s dedication to sustainable growth and the well-being of its community members. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and participate in upcoming city meetings to engage with these ongoing efforts.
