The Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is a 55-acre area behind Stillwater Area High School, featuring diverse biomes such as oak forests, prairies, and coniferous plantings. In April 2024, the City Council adopted an Energy Action Plan developed in collaboration with SSMN. The plan sets a goal to save 3.8 million kWh of electricity and 198,000 therms of natural gas by the end of 2025, aiming to avoid an additional 58% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions and save the community $450,000.
PFAS Mitigation Efforts
The City of Stillwater is addressing concerns about per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the local water supply. Construction is underway for a new PFAS treatment facility at Well #10, expected to be operational by May 2026.
