Stillwater Considers Establishing Downtown Social District

Stillwater Considers Establishing Downtown Social District

The City of Stillwater is exploring the creation of a downtown social district, a designated area where individuals can purchase and consume alcoholic beverages while walking through the defined zone. Authorized by the Minnesota Legislature in 2024, this initiative aims to enhance the vibrancy of Stillwater’s historic downtown.

To gather community feedback, the city has launched a survey and scheduled a public open house. Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts through the survey available on the city’s official website. Additionally, an open house will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Margaret Rivers Room at the Stillwater Library.

City staff will collect input during June and July to assess public opinion on the proposed social district. The feedback will inform future decisions regarding its implementation.
