The Stillwater City Council recently encountered a deadlock regarding the proposed Brixton townhome development, a 108-unit project slated for the southeast corner of Manning Avenue and 80th Street North. The council’s 2-2 vote has temporarily halted the project’s progress, with a special meeting scheduled for May 5 to revisit the decision.
Community members have voiced concerns about potential increases in traffic, challenges with school bus navigation, and the absence of sidewalks in the area. In response, both council members and the developer have agreed to consider design modifications and additional buffering measures to address these issues.
The upcoming special meeting aims to resolve the deadlock and determine the future of the Brixton development. Residents are encouraged to participate and share their perspectives as the city seeks a balanced approach to growth and community well-being.
