The Stillwater City Council recently encountered a stalemate regarding the proposed Brixton townhome development, a 108-unit project slated for the intersection of Manning Avenue and 80th Street North. The council’s 2-2 vote has postponed the project’s advancement, pending further deliberation.
During the council meeting, numerous residents voiced concerns about potential increases in traffic, challenges with school bus navigation, and the absence of sidewalks in the vicinity. In response, both council members and the developer discussed possible design modifications and additional buffering measures to address these issues. Despite these discussions, the tie vote has temporarily halted the project’s progress.
The council has scheduled a special meeting on May 5 to revisit the Brixton development proposal. This session aims to resolve the deadlock and determine the project’s future, taking into account community feedback and proposed adjustments.
