The Stillwater City Council recently encountered a stalemate regarding the proposed Brixton townhome development, a 108-unit project slated for the intersection of Manning Avenue and 80th Street North. The council’s 2-2 vote has postponed the project’s advancement, with a special meeting scheduled to revisit the matter.
Community members have voiced concerns about potential increases in traffic, challenges with school bus navigation, and the absence of sidewalks in the area. In response, both council members and the developer have agreed to consider design modifications and additional buffering measures to address these issues.
The upcoming special meeting aims to resolve the deadlock and determine the future of the Brixton development, balancing the city’s growth objectives with the community’s concerns.
