Parks & Outdoor Gems
Lowell Park
A downtown riverside haven along the St. Croix River, Lowell Park is perfect for a picnic, watching river traffic, or admiring the historic Lift Bridge. With walking paths, grassy bluffs, and event amphitheaters, it’s a peaceful escape that also features community gatherings. Amenities include restrooms, benches, open lawns, gazebo, and electricity access for events. Free to visit.
Teddy Bear Park
This whimsical playground at 207 E Nelson St is a must for families—giant teddy bears, a tree house with slides, and plenty of space to run. Seasonal hours apply (mid-April through mid-October) and it’s free. A great place to let kids climb and parents relax.
Pioneer Park & Washington Square Park
Pioneer Park offers sweeping views of downtown from its bluff, along with playgrounds, shelters, paths and restrooms—ideal for BBQs or catching sunset. Washington Square Park is smaller, with a playground, shelter, and a little ball field—nice for shorter visits close to town. Both are free and welcoming.
Lily Lake Park & Other Picks
Lily Lake Park blends water access, boat dock, fishing pier, playground, and open space—come for the lake, stay for the shade and serenity. If you want longer trails or horseback riding, Pine Point Regional Park and the Gateway State Trail are nearby options to stretch your legs outside the city.
Attractions & Unique Spots
Stillwater Lift Bridge
Iconic and walkable, the Lift Bridge connects downtown to riverfront views and makes for photos, people watching, and enjoying river currents below. Combine with Lowell Park for a full riverside stroll. Free public access.
Union Art Alley
A hidden gem just off Main Street, this narrow alley bursts with vibrant murals, local art, and ever-changing installations. Like an outdoor gallery waiting to be discovered. Free, casual, and full of character.
Stillwater Trolley Tours & History
Take the Stillwater Trolley for about 45 minutes of narrated history. It winds through old streets, telling stories of lumber history, historic homes, and hidden corners. A great way to see the town without walking every step.
