Stillwater’s Browns Creek Restoration Enhances Local Trout Fishing Opportunities

Recent restoration efforts along Browns Creek near Stillwater have significantly enhanced local trout fishing opportunities. The project, completed in May 2026, included the introduction of an ADA-compliant access point, allowing anglers with mobility limitations to enjoy the stream.

To commemorate the restoration, Governor Tim Walz and DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen participated in a trout stocking event on May 8, 2026, releasing several rainbow trout into the creek. This initiative aims to bolster the local trout population and provide a sustainable fishing environment for the community.

Anglers are encouraged to explore the improved Browns Creek area and take advantage of the enhanced fishing access. The restoration not only benefits the local ecosystem but also promotes outdoor recreation and community engagement in Stillwater.
