Stillwater’s New Community Development Director Aims for Sustainable Growth

The City of Stillwater has appointed Jason Zimmerman as its new Community Development Director. Zimmerman, who grew up on the west side of the Twin Cities, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for sustainable growth to his new role.

Since joining the city, Zimmerman has been actively involved in updating the Comprehensive Plan, a strategic document that will guide Stillwater’s development efforts for the next two decades. He emphasizes the importance of community engagement in this process, stating, “I work with a very enthusiastic and team-oriented group of people in City Hall. It’s been easy to step in and build on their positive thinking for the future of Stillwater.”

Zimmerman is also continuing projects initiated by his predecessors, ensuring a seamless transition and sustained progress in the city’s development initiatives. His approach focuses on balancing growth with the preservation of Stillwater’s unique character and history.

Residents are encouraged to participate in upcoming public meetings and provide input on the Comprehensive Plan. This collaborative effort aims to reflect the community’s vision and priorities, ensuring that Stillwater remains a vibrant and sustainable place to live and work.
