Stillwater’s World Snow Celebration: A Global Gathering of Art and Culture

Every January, Stillwater, Minnesota, transforms into a global hub of winter artistry during the World Snow Celebration. This annual festival brings together elite snow sculpting teams from around the world, turning the city into a breathtaking outdoor gallery.

The Heart of the Celebration: World Snow Sculpting Championship

At the core of the festival is the World Snow Sculpting Championship, where 16 teams from five continents compete for the prestigious title of World Champion. These artists carve massive blocks of snow into intricate sculptures, blending cultural traditions with technical mastery. The 2026 lineup includes teams from countries such as Canada, Denmark, Ecuador, Great Britain, India, and more.

Beyond the Competition: A Festival of Winter Culture

The World Snow Celebration offers more than just the championship. Attendees can enjoy live entertainment, family-friendly activities, regional food and beverage experiences, and opportunities to meet the sculptors as they work. Each day presents a chance to witness art in motion and join a community united by wonder and imagination.

Community and Partnership

The Greater Stillwater Chamber Foundation, in collaboration with the City of Stillwater and title sponsor HealthPartners, proudly hosts this event. The festival not only showcases international talent but also boosts the local economy and fosters community spirit. In previous years, the event attracted over 50,000 visitors and generated more than 2.1 billion media impressions, highlighting its significance both locally and globally.

As we look forward to the next World Snow Celebration, we invite residents and visitors alike to embrace the season, celebrate global artistry, and experience the unique charm of Stillwater during this magical time.
