Stillwater has been actively pursuing initiatives to enhance community development and address local concerns. A notable development is the appointment of Jason Zimmerman as the new Community Development Director. Zimmerman, who grew up on the west side of the Twin Cities, is enthusiastic about contributing to Stillwater’s growth and is currently working on the Comprehensive Plan that will guide the city’s development for the next two decades. He has expressed appreciation for the collaborative environment at City Hall and aims to build on the positive momentum for Stillwater’s future.
In addition to leadership changes, the city is addressing environmental concerns related to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the water supply. Construction is underway for a new PFAS treatment facility at Well #10, with significant progress made since breaking ground in mid-September. The project includes new sanitary sewer manholes, raw and finished water piping connections, and concrete footings for the treatment building. Despite winter conditions, work continues, with the facility expected to be operational by May 1, 2026. This initiative underscores Stillwater’s commitment to providing safe, high-quality drinking water to its residents.
These efforts reflect Stillwater’s dedication to thoughtful growth and environmental stewardship, ensuring the community remains a vibrant and safe place for its residents.
