High School Athletics
Stillwater Area High School, the oldest in Minnesota, has a storied history in athletics. With 55 state championships since 1913, the school’s commitment to excellence is evident. The Ponies offer a variety of sports, including baseball, basketball, football, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and more. Notably, the boys’ lacrosse team had an impressive 18-1 record in the 2025 season, securing second place in the state and clinching the Section 4 and SEC Conference titles.
Community Sports Programs

Stillwater Mountain Bike Team
Established in 2013, this team has grown from 26 student-athletes to over 90 members, earning seven state championships. Open to students from 6th to 12th grade, the team emphasizes camaraderie and lifelong skills through training and racing.
Chilkoot Velo
Since 2009, Chilkoot Velo has united cyclists of all skill levels in the Greater Stillwater area. With over 100 annual rides tailored to different paces and styles, the group promotes community and the joy of cycling.
Limitless Cycling
Dedicated to enhancing the well-being of individuals of all abilities, Limitless Cycling offers adaptive outdoor programs. They provide piloted adaptive bicycle and Action Trackchair® rides, ensuring everyone can experience the outdoors.

St. Croix Valley Recreation Center
This multi-purpose facility features a dome field house and two NHL-style ice sheets. It hosts activities ranging from soccer leagues and adult hockey to open skating and group lessons, serving as a hub for community recreation.
The LumberYard Hockey & Sports Center
Offering a studio ice rink, fieldhouse, gym, and more, The LumberYard caters to athletes involved in hockey, lacrosse, soccer, baseball, and other sports. It’s a destination for training, recreation, and retail.
