Stillwater’s Social District Proposal: Community Weighs In

Stillwater is exploring the creation of a social district in its downtown area, a move authorized by the Minnesota Legislature in 2024. This initiative would allow individuals to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages while walking within a designated area.

To gather community feedback, the city has launched a survey and scheduled a public open house. Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts through the survey available on the city’s website. The open house is set for Wednesday, July 16, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Margaret Rivers Room at the Stillwater Library.

City staff are keen to understand public opinion on this proposal and will consider the feedback in their decision-making process. For more information and to participate in the survey, visit the city’s official website.
