Stillwater City Council Faces Deadlock on Brixton Townhome Development

The Stillwater City Council recently faced a significant decision regarding the proposed Brixton townhome development, a 108-unit project planned for the southeast corner of Manning Avenue and 80th Street North. The council’s vote resulted in a 2-2 deadlock, postponing the project’s approval.

During the council meeting, numerous residents expressed concerns about potential increases in traffic, challenges with school bus navigation, and the absence of sidewalks in the area. In response, both council members and the developer discussed possible design modifications and additional buffering measures to address these issues. Despite these discussions, the tie vote has temporarily halted the project’s progress.

The council has scheduled a special meeting on May 5 to revisit the Brixton development proposal. This meeting aims to further deliberate on the project and consider adjustments that may alleviate community concerns.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the upcoming meeting to voice their opinions and stay informed about developments that impact the community.
