Stillwater City Council Faces Deadlock Over Brixton Townhome Development

The Stillwater City Council recently encountered a deadlock regarding the proposed Brixton townhome development, a 108-unit project slated for the southeast corner of Manning Avenue and 80th Street North. The council’s 2-2 tie vote has temporarily halted the project’s progress, necessitating further discussion and potential revisions.

During the council meeting, numerous residents voiced concerns about the development’s impact on local traffic, school bus routes, and the absence of sidewalks in the area. In response, both council members and the developer agreed to consider design modifications and additional buffering measures to address these issues. However, the tie vote means that the project cannot advance without further council action.

A special meeting has been scheduled for May 5 to revisit the Brixton development proposal. This session aims to resolve the deadlock and determine the project’s future, taking into account community feedback and potential design adjustments.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the upcoming meeting to express their views and stay informed about developments that may affect their neighborhoods.
