Stillwater Evaluates Event Policies Amid Resident Concerns

Stillwater’s historic downtown has long been a hub for festivals and events, drawing visitors from across the region. However, recent feedback from residents has prompted city officials to reassess the frequency and scale of these gatherings.

Mayor Ted Kozlowski acknowledged the community’s concerns, stating, “We want to continue to build on our success as a destination, but we also need to ensure that our residents feel comfortable and that our city services are not overextended.”

In response, the City Council has established a task force to explore potential adjustments to the event calendar. Council Member Lindsay Belland emphasized the need for balance, noting, “We don’t want to overregulate, but we also don’t want our amenities to feel inaccessible to our community members.”

Proposed measures include limiting the number of events on certain days and implementing stricter permit requirements for organizers. The task force aims to develop recommendations that preserve Stillwater’s vibrant atmosphere while addressing residents’ concerns about congestion and resource strain.

Residents are encouraged to participate in upcoming public forums to share their perspectives as the city works toward a solution that benefits both the community and its visitors.
