The Stillwater City Council recently encountered a stalemate regarding the proposed Brixton townhome development, a 108-unit project slated for the southeast corner of Manning Avenue and 80th Street North. The council’s 2-2 vote has postponed the project’s approval, with a special meeting scheduled for May 5 to revisit the decision.
During the council meeting, numerous residents voiced concerns about potential increases in traffic, challenges with school bus navigation, and the absence of sidewalks in the area. In response, both council members and the developer agreed to consider design modifications and additional buffering measures to address these issues. However, the tie vote has temporarily halted the project’s progress.
The upcoming special meeting aims to resolve the deadlock and determine the future of the Brixton development. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to participate and share their perspectives as the council deliberates on this significant community project.
