The Stillwater City Council recently encountered a deadlock regarding the proposed Brixton townhome development, a 108-unit project slated for the intersection of Manning Avenue and 80th Street North. The council’s 2-2 tie vote has temporarily halted the project’s progress, necessitating further discussions.
During the council meeting, numerous residents voiced concerns about potential increases in traffic, challenges with school bus navigation, and the absence of sidewalks in the area. In response, both council members and the project’s developer agreed to consider design modifications and additional buffering measures to address these issues.
Given the tie vote, the council has scheduled a special meeting on May 5 to revisit the proposal and seek a resolution. This development underscores the importance of community engagement and thorough deliberation in shaping Stillwater’s growth and infrastructure.
