The Stillwater City Council recently faced a significant decision regarding the proposed Brixton townhome development, a 108-unit project planned for the southeast corner of Manning Avenue and 80th Street North. The council’s vote resulted in a 2-2 deadlock, postponing the project’s approval and prompting further deliberation.
During the council meeting, numerous residents expressed concerns about potential increases in traffic, challenges with school bus navigation, and the absence of sidewalks in the vicinity of the proposed development. In response, both council members and the developer discussed possible design modifications and additional buffering measures to address these issues. Despite these discussions, the tie vote has temporarily halted the project’s progress.
The council has scheduled a special meeting on May 5 to revisit the Brixton development proposal. This meeting aims to resolve the deadlock and determine the project’s future, taking into account the community’s feedback and the proposed adjustments.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the upcoming meeting to voice their opinions and stay informed about developments that impact the Stillwater community.
